A Seattle transplant and alumna of Laguna College of Art & Design, Stephanie Snee draws and paints, teaches art, frosts cakes, and climbs walls. The memories of emotions experienced in dreams or in past adventures inspires the content of her work, as well as an ever-longing connection with nature. Snee begins with a compulsive mark, an intuitive idea to hash out, and later manipulates the design to aid the evolving meaning. Her studio work operates on a language of symbols and subtle surrealism in poetic depictions. Snee's practices include representational studies that fuel fictional illustrations, with appreciation for detail, a love of rocks, trinkets, ornamentation, and textures.
