A Seattle transplant and alumna of Laguna College of Art & Design, Stephanie Snee draws and paints, teaches art, frosts cakes, and climbs walls. The memories of emotions experienced in a dream or in past adventures inspires the content of her work, as well as an ever-longing connectedness with nature. Snee begins with a compulsive mark, an intuitive idea to hash out, and later manipulates the design to aid the evolving meaning. Her studio work operates on a language of symbols and subtle surrealism in poetic depictions. Snee's practices include representational studies that fuel fictional illustrations, with appreciation for detail, a love of rocks, trinkets, ornamentation, and textures.
